Sirao: A Taste of Amsterdam in Cebu

I've never been to Amsterdam. But I've seen pictures. And based from those, I can say that this place looks pretty close. For us who have yet to save up for an actual tour to Europe, visiting this farm is a real treat. Just a few minutes drive from Cebu city, you could already enjoy the beautiful sight of the blossoming mix of red and yellow flowers.

There are several gardens you could visit. Some more frequented than the others, and each having different entrance rates, which ranges from Php 20 to Php 50. Gardens with more visitors have trampled-looking flowers, and those with less tourists have more picturesque beds.

The sight of these flowers has a calming and peaceful effect for everybody. That's why you'll have to make sure that when you visit, they are in full bloom. Because during summer, these flowers are not visible. They thrive in the cool weather of the highlands of Cebu. Thus, the best time to drop by is during the last quarter of the year.

The flowers are sold as well to the visitors. So, if you feel like adding a little bit of red and yellow to your house, you can buy bouquets from the flower vendors outside the farms. The local government have made precautions for visitors though. Because the first time that it was opened to the public caused most parts of the gardens destroyed. As an amateur herald of nature, I strongly advise everyone to do their parts in preserving the beauty of these flowers by watching where they step when they go around to take pictures.
